Would adding and using a RAID controller would make me add additional hard drives to my RAID setup?
by admin on Jun.04, 2011, under Datacenter
Would adding and using a RAID controller would make me add additional hard drives to my RAID setup Hardware setup: 2 hard disks (IDE) (EIDE) RAID 1 (mirroring) Operating System: Set Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition SP2I have up my computer to RAID-1. Running Windows Server 2003. My board can only accommodate four drives based on the IDE connectors. I used the boards IDE connectors and i am new in using RAID controller. My question is would it make me add additional hard drives to my computer if i want to use a RAID controllerfor the same functions (RAID 1 or RAID-0), mirroring and striping. I want to expand more than 3 drives (with the cd-rom as 4th in IDE slots). Would adding a RAID controller on my computer makes it possible to add more hard drives for my current RAID-1 setup?
