Keynote on KVM progress – Avi Kivity, Red Hat, KVM Forum 2011

Avi Kivity from Red Hat gives the day one keynote address at the KVM Forum 2011 in Vancouver, Canada. Kivity opens the forum, welcoming the attendees and reviewing the progress of KVM in the preceding year. Work discussed includes nested virtualization, completing the AMD implementation and working on the Intel implementation, asynchronous pagefaults, shadow MMU performance improvements, hypervisor mode for POWER7 series, transparent huge pages merge, and vhost networking. Kivity also looks at some of the work-in-progress, including improving device assignment and performance on very large CPU systems. Kivity feels that the x86 mode is fairly complete, and efforts can move towards work on the feature list, and exploring new and interesting innovation.
