A comparison of the differences between the Intel i5-750 and the Intel i7-920 to facilitate making a decision on which one to purchase. Because there is lots of technical information in the videos, they are done in a style that is geared towards preventing the viewer from falling asleep…yawn!!! Part 1 mostly talks about hyper-threading. So if you have doubts about what hyper-threading is, or how it works, then this would be a good primer video to watch. I have used some simple analogies to help understand what hyper-threading is, and how it can help you. fyi, hyper-threading is exclusively an Intel implementation, as amd chips have not implemented it yet. Part 2 talks about lots of differences between the two chips, including, memory speed, system bus speed, power consumption, turbo boost, transistors…

Get the i7 860
Overclocking is capable of going from 3.8~4.0GHz+ with HT ON (Air Cooled)
OR~
HT OFF 4.0GHz ~ 4.2GHz+ (Air Cooled)
i7 requires less voltage to hit higher frequency compare to i5
i5 has no HT Capability
HT works best under Vista and Win7, both OSes are able to tell the differences between Physical Cores and Logical Cores.

Good, but your explanation of the transfer-rate was mostly the same explanation as you used for Hyper-Threading.

Which is the better CPU for Digital Audio Workstation like Cubase, Sonar and Protools. Hyper Threading is not needed.
