3 uses for audacity – free audio editing application
by admin on Jan.31, 2012, under FreeBSD
A video I made for HamptonRoads.tv, taking a look at the open source audio editing application Audacity. In the examples, I show multitrack recording, live audio recording, and recording from another application. Audacity runs on Windows, Apple OS X and many of the UNIX varients (Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD, Solaris, etc). HamptonRoads.TV has yet to publish the segment.

i’ll use multitrack for my next animation soundtrack – i used soundforge 6 and after mixing many audio segments into 2 tracks, its very difficult to correct errors – i started writing a multitrack editor but never finished it

Ah yes, sorry. The original audience it was intended was a local youtube clone aimed at the general population. They don’t have much local generated content, so I decided to help them out. I also didn’t realize Garage Band was a pack-in with OS-X, I thought it was a for-pay option, part of the iLife suite or what have you. I still think Audacity is more responsive than Garage Band, but in the end it’s more about what you accomplish with the tool.

I think this guy forgot to mention that Audacity is an open source program. Meaning anyone from anywhere can volunteerly to help develop Audacity.

DofS1-Thanks for the help. Should I do this in audacity or is this a window preference?

Try going into preferences by (Ctrl+P) and in “Audio I/O” In recording, go to the second drop down menu and click on “Stereo” then click on “OK”
